In 1939, when war broke out in Europe, Ernest Daltroff, who was Jewish, was forced to seek exile and chose to flee to the United States. When he saw the Statue of Liberty as they docked in New York, he vowed to pay homage to this nation. At the end of the 1990s Patrick Alès discovered the founder’s memoirs. In 2000, he honoured this vow by creating Lady Caron for the opening of the boutique on Madison Avenue in New York.
